The number of first-aiders is set by the company's risk analysis, not by a fixed headcount-to-first-aiders table (deliberately absent). The employer considers the number of workers present at once, the type of company, staff distribution, and the risk and frequency of accidents. For group A, B and C companies employing at least 20 workers, at least one trained first-aider must be present.

First-aider training includes a practical component and a yearly refresher (bijscholing) to keep the role. Theory may be delivered online, with the practical remaining in person.
