Nursing-home staff, including care assistants, must be trained in first aid and emergency actions; two-rescuer resuscitation courses with equipment are offered specifically for this staff so they can respond quickly to residents.

A recognized, up-to-date first-aid certificate is the way to meet this requirement; it is in addition to the staff's occupational training and must be renewed periodically.
